Defense fair opens in Athens on Tuesday

DEFEA, the Defense Exhibition Athens, is opening its doors on Tuesday at the Metropolitan Expo center by the Athens airport. 

The three-day fair will feature leading local and international companies presenting defense systems for ground, sea and air, and systems of national security.

The event is held under the auspices of the National Defense Ministry.

BRUSSELS -- European Commissioner for Crises Management Janez Lenarčič on Friday thanked Greece for the vaccines against the novel coronavirus sent to Greece's neighbours, Albania and North Macedonia.

Following a request from authorities in the two countries to the European Union, Greece offered 100,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to each country via the EU civil protection mechanism.

Lenarčič welcomed the offer as an example of the rapid coordination enabled by the European Civil Protection Mechanism, which proved vital for the support of countries during the pandemic.
