According to SKY express, the naming of the aircraft, which is expected to strengthen the city’s brand name to markets abroad, was a symbolic move to demonstrate the strategic importance that both Thessaloniki and the entire Macedonia region have for the company.
“Thessaloniki has embraced SKY express since the first day of our flights, so we wanted to reciprocate this honor by giving to one of our new aircraft the very name of the city: My Thessaloniki,” said Ioannis Grylos, Head CEO of the IOGR Group that owns SKY express.
SKY express is currently in a phase of development and is adding new aircraft, new destinations, and new products.
“We, as a company will continue to provide the people of Thessaloniki with more options, operating in conditions of healthy competition, with the youngest and greenest fleet in the country and we are confident that this relationship of trust will only become stronger,” Grylos added.
The naming ceremony was also attended by Thessaloniki Mayor Konstantinos Zervas, Deputy Regional Governor of the Metropolitan Unit of Thessaloniki Voula Patoulidou, Greek Secretary General of Transport Yiannis Ksifaras, Fraport Greece CEO Alexander Zinell and the director of the Prime Minister’s office in Thessaloniki, Maria Antoniou.
The event also inaugurated the operation of the new SKY express lounge at Thessaloniki International Airport “Makedonia”.
