The 27-year-old singer got a “taste” of authentic Greece by having lunch at a modest boat garage, turned taverna, in the adorable fishing village of Mandrakia.

Boat garages, or “syrmata”, with their colorful doors are typically located on the ground floor of the fisherman’s residence.

Bieber visited this overlooked gem and tasted authentic Greek food at the tiny taverna “Medusa”. But in order to do that he had to alert the neighbors to open the premises. His associate, Dimitris Tsakoumis, called on 79-year-old Andreas, a local fisherman, who apparently had the keys.

The elderly Greek fisherman, who had no idea who Bieber is, prepared the modest lunch which included roasted sardines, traditional fava beans, olives, feta cheese and bread. According to Tsakoumis, Mr. Andreas apologized that the premises had no 4G internet and became friends with Bieber talking about his life as a fisherman.

He said he is a permanent resident of Mandrakia and that, despite his age, he still swims everyday besides fishing with his little kaiki, a Greek traditional fishing boat, anchored just outside the taverna.

Mr. Andreas later apologized because he had to go back to work. He left Bieber to continue his lunch and he strolled off to his kaiki.

Justin Bieber posted two photos on Instagram from his unique Greek experience. He simply said: “That place looks like a lucid dream.”
